WordPress continuous to evolve to cater the changing needs of its users. When WordPress 3.2 was first introduced, the major question was: What are the technical changes? Well, it no longer supports PHP4 and MySQL4. Is this good or bad? Generally, it’s a good thing because WordPress 3.2 dropping support of the old versions gives more pros than cons. Shifting to PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0 means WordPress versions in the future can be lighter, easier to use and offers more features and enhanced performance. Additionally, this switch was announced a year in advance so major hosts have had a chance to upgrade.

So long IE 6!
Similar to WordPress.com, WordPress.org finally drops support for IE 6. It was a relief for UI teams since numerous features and additions do not suit the aging browser. Take note however that loading the WordPress dashboard in IE 6 is still possible, however the appearance is not so good or it’s possible that it won’t be usable. It’s recommended to deviate from using IE 6 and go for modern browsers such as Firefox, IE 9, Google Chrome, Opera or Safari.

Fresh Look! New Default Theme
Every year, WordPress Theme Team tries to come up with a new default team. WordPress 3.2 offers visually clean and modern theme, plus it supports responsive layouts. What does this mean? Despite of varying sizes of your phone, iPad, laptop or desktop monitors, the website maintains good appearance.

Distraction Free Writing Mode
This distraction free writing mode is a superb feature if you hate getting distracted by menus, side bars and options. Now you can intently focus on your prose once you enter the full screen mode of your WordPress post editor. Distractions are cut down, allowing you to “just write”. Additionally, this feature intelligently allows you to access various parts of the publishing interface.

Dashboard Overhauled!
Since WordPress 2.7 was launched in 2008, this is by far the first major user interface overhaul. You can now view a cleaner and modernized WordPress interface here. The alterations are subtle but this made the visual more polished. Many users would agree that the new backend WordPress overhaul looks more professional and streamlined. The change also lightened up the Dashboard.
